About Shillong Teer

Shillong Teer is one of the oldest and most popular archery-based archery-based traditional games in India. It is played at the Polo Ground in Shillong, Meghalaya, and is organized by the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association (KHASA) under the provisions of the Meghalaya Amusements and Participation Tax Act.

The game is conducted Monday through Saturday. In each round, a group of trained archers shoot a fixed number of arrows at a cylindrical wooden target. Officials count the total number of successful hits. The last two digits of this count form the declared result number for that round.

First Round (FR): Shooting begins at 3:30 PM. Results declared around 3:45 PM IST.
Second Round (SR): Shooting begins at 4:30 PM. Results declared around 4:45 PM IST.

Players purchase tickets at licensed Teer counters, selecting a number between 00 and 99. If their chosen number matches the result, they win a prize. Tickets are available from 6:00 AM to 15 minutes before each round begins.

Shillong Teer is a legal, culturally significant activity in Meghalaya and has been practiced for generations. The game has gained popularity beyond Meghalaya, with people across Northeast India and beyond following the results daily.
